Small Space

 Small space filled 

with memories

 I have a little hallway off

the living room and bedroom

that melts my heart 

every time I pass through it

I've filled it with treasures that are very special to me

Like my daughter's wedding portrait

and that same sweet daughter gave me the pitcher 

and wash bowl as a birthday present years ago

I cherish it

 It's sitting on hubby's grandmother's

old singer sewing machine cabinet

and covered with one of my 

grandmother's linens

I've collected the plates over the years

 

The embroidery piece is very special

My grandfather lost his leg in WWI

While he was in the hospital convalescing

he embroidered this piece

to keep his mind off the pain

It's been passed down four generations

and I am privileged to display it

(until it's passed down again)

Every Little Birdie says

 This small space

holds a very large place

in my heart
