From the Junk Corner

A few weeks ago my neighbor
walked across the street
when she saw me out painting

Looking around at all my junk she
 spied something in my
"waiting to be painted"
corner of the garage

My Junk Corner

She said "Oh I see a piece
that would be perfect for my
 daughter in law!"

"Could you paint it white?"

Are you kidding me
"paint it white"
is my middle name!!

........so out came the chalk paint and

Ta Daaaaa....

A cute shabby jewelry cabinet

(Which was originally blonde wood)

The top opens with a mirror

sides open for places to hang necklaces

and plenty of drawers for other jewelry

Every Little Birdie says

What girl wouldn't love this
for a jewelry box!!

Celebrating Life

The other night I stepped
out on my front porch
and took a moment
to thank God
for this beautiful sunset

I don't know about you,
but I rarely seem to slow down these days

Again this past Saturday
I made myself find time to attend a
memorial service for a man
at my church that I barely knew

I had smiled at him and said hello
many times over the past year,
but never really took the time to
get to know him

During this wonderful celebration of life
I found myself rejoicing
with his family as they boldly
gave testimony through word and song
of a great Godly man
who loved his Lord and served
Him so beautifully

How I wish I'd slowed down long enough
to know him before the sunset on his life

Every Little Birdie says -

Slow me down, Lord!
Ease the pounding of my heart
By the quieting of my mind.
Steady my harried pace
With a vision of the eternal reach of time.
Give me, admidst the confusions of my day,
The calmness of the everlasting hills.
Break the tensions of my nerves
With the soothing music of the sighing streams
That live in my memory.
Help me to know
The magical restoring power of sleep.
Teach me the art
Of taking minute vacations of slowing down to look at a flower;
To chat with an old friend or to make a new one;
To pat a stray dog,
To watch a spider build a web;
To smile at a child;
Or to read a few lines from a good book.
Remind me each day
That the race is not always to the swift;
That there is more to life than increasing its speed.
Let me look upward
Into the branches of the towering oak
And know that it grew slowly and well.
Slow me down, Lord,
And inspire me to send my roots deep
Into the soil of life’s enduring values
That I may grow toward the stars
Of my great destiny.

Multi Purpose

Are any of your rooms multi-purpose?

My Guest Room certainly is!!

It's for my guests,
it's an office,
and it's my crafting room.

A comfy bed for my guests

And a desk unit for work
and crafting

of course when I'm crafting it
DOES NOT look this tidy

....but I'm not revealing those pictures!

It's a scary sight!!

The baskets are a new
addition for my files

Found them on the cheap
at Ross and I love them!

Above the desk an old ammo box
from my hubby's grandfather
topped with a picture of my grands

I'm always changing out the décor
in this room.......

My latest décor - Vintage bottles
I bought while on my trip
to Cornwall, England
They were dug up in that area
and date back to the 1800's

This little hammer was a gift
from a special friend at Christmas

The plaque says -
"I have a hammer and I know how to use it"
(She knows me well!)

Most of the things in this room
are my re-purposed creations

What I didn't make or re-purpose
I found at local thrift shops

I love this little corner
of the room

....it's filled with treasures and
things I love

Every time I have guests they say-

"Oh my, I think you've changed things
up a bit in this room"

AND I SAY -

"Yep, I sure have!"

There's no moss growing under these feet!
