Farm to Market Roads

Hubby and I had talked
earlier in the week
about taking a country drive
this weekend

Well the weekend is here
so after our morning coffee
and a few chores
we headed out to explore

I love the Texas back roads

Even the cows were looking for a shady spot
out of the Texas heat!!
The first town our
farm to market road led us to
was Yoakum

This small town has
lots of Rustic Charm

What's a Texas town without a Dance Hall!!

Down Town Yoakum
Hubby let me pop in
Bluebonnet Treasures
for a look see
After meandering around
this tiny town we decided
to find a local spot to eat lunch
We had the blue plate special
Chicken Fried Steak w/ cream gravy
3 sides, iced tea & spice cake

Got to love a country cafe!!

After lunch we hit the road again
This FM Road led us to Cuero

My favorite place in Cuero is
Wagner's Hardware

This old Hardware store has been here
for over 65 years, and is ozzing with country charm
Upstairs above the Hardware Store you'll
find Granny's Attic

Upstairs or Downstairs you're sure to
find that treasure you simply can't
live without!!!!!

Across from Wagner's
you'll find one of the
many antique shops
in this cute town

Around the corner I found this great little shop
It's called
Off Broadway Antiques
While I was shopping hubby met
this little assistant to the shop keeper
Her name is Bella

Cuero is a Texas Jewel and one of our best kept secrets!!

On the road again
As Willie says
We headed to Yorktown

Sorry Yorktown, but we just
couldn't feel your charm
so after a quick trip through downtown.......

We were ready for this country road
to take us home.....

Every Little Birdie says ....
a country drive
on a beautiful Saturday afternoon
with my favorite guy......

  2. That looks like a fun drive, I would love to visit Cuero now. I lived in Fredricksburg, which is another really cute town, for a short time back in the late 80's. However, we ended up back in the Pacific NW where I was born and raised. My hubby and I also love to go for drives through the country back roads. Thanks for sharing!
