Fiction or Non-fiction??

I'm in a monthly book club

We trade off
one month reading fiction
the next month reading non-fiction

We rotate meeting at each
others homes.... sharing fellowship,
comments on the latest book
and a lovely meal

I thought I'd share our last
two books with you

Last month we read non-fiction

The miraculous story of a Muslim Woman's
encounter with God

HOW DO I GIVE MYSELF TO GOD COMPLETELY?

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DO?

It is the fascinating true story of Bilquis Sheikh, a prominent
Muslim woman in South Asia who faced these questions
at the crossroads of her life - and found the astonishing answers.

This book inspired me, convicted me and made
me think long and hard about my walk with my Lord.

I give it an A+
It's a must read!!!

The book we are reading for
our May meeting is

The eerily prophetic NEW YORK TIMES best seller
that predicted an attack on the U.S. and the war
in Iraq....but was written before any of it happened.

One critic said -

"Buckle up!  The Last Jihad is a high-speed, heart
pounding, edge-of-your-seat roller-coaster ride into the heart
of darkness.....feels ripped from tomorrow's headlines
This stuff could really happen!"

I'll have to let you know how I like this book,
but I think it's going to be a fast read.
One of those books you don't want to put down.

If you are a reader check these
books out!!!!

Two Projects

We had two projects going
this past weekend

On Friday 22 pallets of grass
where delivered

They were placed all
around the house

We have coastal grass that
covers most of our 3 acres
but we wanted Floratam
St. Augustine grass around the house

Have you heard of Floratam????
It was developed by
Texas A & M and the University of Florida
It's a type of St. Augustine
that is adapted for warm humid
sub-tropical regions
It is very hardy and drought resistant

I don't know about you but I have
fond memories as a kid of going barefoot
in our lush St. Augustine grass

It's just great to wiggle your toes in!!

........and Saturday while the crew
was out laying our new grass
I was on the screened porch working
on another project!

Remember the Oak table and chairs
on the porch???

And remember the Annie Sloan Paint
I got for Christmas

Well I decided it was time to use it!!!!!!

This paint is very thick so I kept
some water on hand to add as needed

I decided the old oak table
and chairs needed a new look!!!
It took me most of the afternoon
to paint them
but I found the AS Paint
very easy to work with.

Meanwhile the grass
was going in nicely........

I love the way it frames my flowerbeds
Back on the porch things were
looking good too!!!!

Once the grass was in it
was time to start watering it

I let the newly painted table
and chairs dry overnight and
the next day I used sandpaper
to smooth out the finish

I was told at the store
not to use the AS wax on this piece
because it's an outdoor porch
and will be exposed to the Texas heat

Good to know!!!!

I think both our projects
turned out very nice

Take a look......

Love the way it brightens up the porch

Love, love, love my grass!
Doesn't it just complete the house

Two projects completed!!

but there's always more to do......

Next project..... add pave stone
walk ways in the front and back.....

Until the next project

Pillow Talk

Let's talk PILLOWS

I love pillows
lots, and lots, and lots
of pillows

Especially in my bedrooms

My daughter found this blue pillow sham
at a resale shop.
Talk about finding a treasure!!!!
She knew I'd love it!!!

Then she loaned me this quilt that
compliments the pillow very well
(she may want it back someday but for now it's mine!!)

This trunk in my guest bedroom holds
pillows and extra quilts for visitors

I saw this little pillow in a shop
and just had to have it.
Isn't it precious

Moving on.....
more pillow talk......

Love white pillows with a hint of pink

This beautiful spread
was crochet by my Aunt Mae
I feel so blessed that it was passed on to me!!

Isn't it gorgeous

The three little dresses were once worn by
my daughter, me and my sister-in-law

and the baby shoes were mine!
the pictures of the handsome young man and the pretty lady below
are my grandparents

have you met my Alter Ego??

and in my last bedroom......

I found this Rachel Ashwell
bedding set at Target

It's a duvet cover and two pillow shams

I'm looking for a iron head and footboard for this room

when I'm in the Dallas area I always
pop into TJ Max, it's one of my favorite stores
That's where I found this great french pillow!!

This room is filled with fond memories......

Like my Dad's pipe collection

and his hats

and the quilt Dan's grandmother made
and gave to his mom and dad as a wedding gift

Big pillows, small pillows, new pillows
old pillows, fancy pillows,
plain pillows,
 I just love them all!!!!!

Well I guess that's enough pillow talk
for now..........

Evening Shift

It's 8:00 p.m. and I've just
come in from working in my yard.

I love the evening time, the sun
is beginning to set and it's getting
a little cooler,
perfect time for a little gardening.

I'm continuing to add plants
to my flowerbeds

These are called Polka Dot Plants and they work
well for a shady spot I've got

I added this wood fern to my tub

These aren't new but I keep moving them around
this is where they landed for now

Found a place for my cross, next to the butterfly plant
(my Son-In-Law made this cross for me so it's very special-
the crown is made from barbwire)

My butterfly plants are beginning to bloom!
Aren't the blooms pretty

I've scattered these pink petunias around --
sticking them in different pots for extra color

slowly but surely my flowerbeds are filling up

While I was out in the yard, the front porch caught my eye,
next thing I know I'm up there adding things,
and moving things around

I added this Dr. Pepper crate
and moved my little rocking chair

I'm always changing things around out here.
Never know what you might find from day to day!!

 Something else caught my attention
...... I noticed I have a cute little
family living in this birdhouse.  I counted
six hungry mouths waiting for mama to feed them!!

I finally put my hammock back out.  It was stored for
the winter.  If I'm going to be out here working
I need a place to rest!!!
And right before I went in
for the evening I noticed
I had some visitors in my yard

Have I mentioned how
much I love living in the country!

I feel so blessed that God
has placed me in this
lovely place I call home.

I'm tired, off to clean up and go to bed!!

I hope you have had
a blessed day also!!!!
