Birdie Love

Since we're celebrating "LOVE" I thought I'd
share some Birdie love with you......

Aren't these cookies sweet for Valentines Day

Don't forget to call a special friend
and tell them you love them

Music makes the moment so much more romantic

and who doesn't love a sweet Valentine card

Every Little Birdie says-
Don't forget to kiss the one you love

Happy Valentine's Day to all my

Eclectic Fun

I promised to show you the rest
of my weekend projects

(Building my inventory for my booth @ Goliad Market Days next month)

A friend of mine gave me an old stool
which at one time had a wicker insert,
but the wicker was long gone and the stool
was in need of some loving care.....

I studied this stool for some time trying
to decide what I would do with it
and then it came to me.....

I went to the Re-Store and bought a
cabinet door that would make a nice top
for my stool/table

both stool and cabinet door got a coat of
white paint
then hubby helped me glue the cabinet door
onto the stool

I added a knob where the hardware
would have been

Stenciled a chandelier on the top

It's kind of eclectic in a fun way
I think it turned out cute
Hope I find the right buyer for this piece

I'm also making some book page wreaths to go in my booth

and I'm doing some old cabinet door
chalkboards as part of my inventory

What other projects do I have on the horizon????

You'll have to check back and see!

See you tomorrow on Valentine's Day!

Garage + Paint = Inventory

As some of you may remember,
I had my first booth last November
at the Victoria Market Days

Every Little Birdie is going to market again this year.....
my next booth will be at the "Goliad Market Days" in March

Goliad is a much bigger market with lots of traffic so I'm hoping to do well

I've been working like mad trying to build up my
inventory for my March booth

I spent all day Saturday
in the garage painting

I'll show you my chalk boards and the little table in a day or two
when they are finished however, I did managed to finish one chair!!

I didn't get a before picture of this chair
but it was dark wood and not in good shape
I found it at one of the flea markets in town
It originally had a cane insert in the seat
but someone had plugged that insert
with a rough piece of wood

A good sanding and a coat of chalk paint helped
but it needed something else.......
It needed some bling!
I told hubby my idea and he helped
me add these eye screws so I could
hang a couple of old spoons

I love the little bit of character
this adds to the piece

When I made up my chalk paint
I was going for a green tint
but it came out more of a blue

Oh well, mixing paint is always an experiment

and of course I think it looks kinda cute
in my bedroom but never fear, come March
it's going to market!!!!!

Italtian 101

We had a "cooking" dinner party

One of our dear friends wanted
to practice preparing a few Italian dishes
so we all got in the kitchen,
put on some Italian music,
and cooked some delicious food

It was an all day affair but
we loved every minute of it

For starters, Janie prepared
this beautiful roasted veggie tray
it was a wonderful beginning to our Italian meal

carrots, tomatos, greenbeans, zuchinni, and cauliflower

Next we prepared our salad

Baby Spinach Salad
with Olives, red onion, shaved  Ricotta Salata,
and candied pecans

We took our time between each course
which made the meal and the entire
evening very enjoyable

Entree- Country Ragu Sauce
We seared a chicken thigh and a lamb rib
and added it to our sauce for extra flavor
We cooked this sauce earlier in the day,
It's a little labor intensive but oh so worth the time!!

Ragu served over linguine w/ crusty bread

and of course a little vino
OK, maybe lots of vino

Also earlier in the day Janie
and I had prepared our dessert

Limoncello Mousse

You sooooooo need this recipe!

4 egg yolks, plus 1 whole egg, beaten
1 C. sugar
1/2 C. Fresh Lemon Juice
pinch of salt
1/2 C. Unsalted Butter, room temp
1/4 C. Limoncello
1 C. whipping cream

In a med-sized saucepan over med heat, whisk together beaten egg yolks &
whole egg, sugar, lemon juice & salt.  Switch to a spoon & stir for 10-15 min, or till mixture thickens.  You'll know when this happens (it thickens up even more when cooled)  Remove pot from heat & stir in butter, a few pats at a time, till it's all used up.  Stir in limoncello till incorporated.  Let curd cool & thicken, stirring every so often, then cover & place in the fridge for 1 hr.  When curd is cold, whip whipping cream till stiff peaks form. In a large bowl, fold whipping cream into the lemon curd,  reserving a few dollops of plain whipped cream for garnish.  Spoon mousse into lovely dessert glasses,
top with a touch of whipped cream & serve with biscott on the side.

to finish off this great meal
we retreated to the screened porch
and enjoyed our delicious dessert and
each other's company

What a fun cooking experience
and a wonderful meal
with special friends

We got up the next morning and walked off
some of those calories!!!!

....and then came home and ate
a yummy brunch......

Oh well, I'll diet tomorrow!

Trash 2 Treasure

Dropped by
Texas Liquidators
my favorite trash 2 treasure place

look what I found for $10.00

It's in need of a little repair and paint
(which I plan to do when I get "around to it")
but for now it makes a cute little
garden table right by my back door

a place for a bucket of seed packets,
tub of garden gloves, a few tools,
and a watering can

A few decorative pieces
to add a little Birdie charm

It will be perfect for my
spring gardening

One man's trash another man's treasure!

Droppin' By

We live out in the country
so at least a few times a week
we "go to town"  to run errands

When I tell hubby I'm going to town
he says "Where you going?"

Me - "Oh I'm going here and there
and then I'll probably be Droppin' By
a few places"

Droppin By is code word for
stopping by my favorite antique place or thrift stores

Today while I was in town
I dropped by
Laurent Street Antique Mall
(One of my favorite droppin by places)

It's a big place but I have two favorite vendors
that I always make a "B" line for!!!!

One is a Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Dealer
Her space is called
Faux Me Nots

This is where I buy my AS paint

She has one of the larger spaces in the antique mall
and I love everything she has!!!!!

I love this wicker dress form

After drooling all over this space
I next head to the other end of the mall
where tucked in a corner is my
favorite shabby chic booth

I have to admit this space is a little
overwhelming to me.....so many great things

I try to take my time here, there is so much
to look at........

I WANT IT ALL!!!!!!

Of course I can't have it all,
so as I head out I say
(to my self)
I'll be back to look at all
you pretty things again very soon!

Every Little Birdie says-

What are some of your favorite droppin' by places?
