Her Story

I'll be away from my blog

for about a week....

We are leaving for the Texas hill country

for my niece's wedding

She has a beautiful story

that began with her

moving to Africa

right out of college

to faithfully serve the people

of Swaziland and of course

her Lord .......

This storybook wedding will take place

at Rancho Miranda

set in the beautiful Texas hill country

Isn't this the perfect setting for a wedding

She is marrying a wonderful

young man that she met back in college

and check out this view

After traveling around the world

she returned home and

reestablished her friendship with

her soon to be husband

and the rest, as they say, is history

It should be a magical evening

......and now two shall become one

I am so happy for this wonderful couple!!

When I return I'll post

pictures of this storybook wedding

and the beauty of Rancho Miranda

and the surrounding area

on my screened porch

We'll call them keepers

I found the following pieces

at Texas Liquidators

here in Victoria

I will sell these at my booth

Some of the corners were knocked off on this piece
the lady at the shop told me how to fix them
with liquid putty....worked like a chap!!

It's hard to tell in this lighting
but I painted this table light green



and added a new french knob

This cute little table
had seen better days.....

.......but now it has a fresh new life



And my last piece

I found at a junk shop

.......laying out in the dirt

with two broken legs

Hubby glued the legs back on and it went

from ugly and dirty.......

To pretty and shabby chic!!!
(also my favorite)

I replaced the old knobs
with these royal knobs
aren't they cute!!!

Estate Sale

My friend Judy and I

hit the estate sale Friday

It was 50% off day!!!

Here's my haul

I found this pretty platter for my daughter

and a lovely lace spread

This great old window

and a couple of old drawers

I'll make something out of these

a home on top of my chest

out on the screened porch

I love the latch on this window

I'm pretty sure this window

 came off the old historic home

where the estate sale was held

(It was built in the late 1800's)

I thought it was a bargain for $15.00

.........and last here is one of my flea market finds



an old wire basket

which I filled with watering cans

I love to go junking

you never know what treasures

you'll come home with!!!!

A Keeper

Do you remember my

$10.00 chair from

the flea market

It got a re-do today

A little Annie Sloan  "Old White"

New fabric for the cushion

A New Look!!!

and a new home

at my table on the screened porch

This one's a keeper!!!!!

I've also been working on

another chair and table

for resale

I'll post the finished results

in a day or two

I've got paint up my nose and between my toes

it's off to the shower for me!!!!!

Having a blue day

Remember these pieces????

$5.00 table from flea market

and this one, in need of a little love........

I'm painting them light blue!!!

I made my first batch of DIY chalk paint

mixed 1/3 cup plaster of paris into a 1/3 cup of warm water

then added it to about 2/3 cup white latex paint

and mixed in about 1/3 cup Martha Stewart Aegean Blue paint

Every body gets a coat of blue!!

Another Great Weekend

Our friends the Paonessa's

came for a long weekend

and once again we had a delightful time

Dan & Tom cooked

Dan & Tom went fishing Friday.....

so that night we had fresh fish with Tom's wonderful

pasta and sauce and Carol's yummy salad

and cooked.....

Mexican Shrimp Cocktail

and cooked....

Southwestern Steak w/ red and green chili sauce

A Toast to the Chefs!!


                  Carol and I were busy too!

We hit every flea market in town

plus a wonderful estate sale

at one of the historical homes

in Victoria and then Saturday
a shopping trip to Goliad

these are just a couple of our purchases
.....we shopped till we dropped and

believe me we found lots

of treasures we couldn't live without!!

a toast to the shopping queens!

There were naps

and deer watching

and fun on the screened porch

OK, a really big campfire!!!!!

After an awesome weekend

we said goodbye and

wished them a safe trip home
