Cherished Friendships

It is said......

A friend is one who knows you and

loves you just the same.

We've all had people that come into our lives, stay awhile,

and then they are gone

......and then there are those special friends that come into your

lives and simply STAY.......in good times,

and in the not so good times,

They are forever friends

We had two of our "forever" friends

visit this week

Tom, Carol and their sweet babies Isabella & Jessepe

Our friendship has always included

many fabulous meals throughout the years

(Dan & Tom are wonderful Chefs)

and Carol and I are very good at sipping wine and watching them cook!!

Tom is Italian and makes the
best pasta & sauce
I've ever eaten

The pasta was served with veal chops that were out of this world
Sorry I didn't get a picture of those.......I was in too much of a hurry to EAT them!!!!

Carol is a very talented seamstress
so while she was here
I got out the sewing cabinet
I inherited from hubby's grandmother

It's very old and I don't know much
about sewing so I'd never really
done anything with it.

Turns out it was beautiful
AND it worked like a charm

Carol and I went shopping
and I bought some pretty fabric

She helped me make my first "sewing" project

I also took Carol to all my favorite

flea markets and we found

some good loot!!!!

It looks great on my front porch

We had so much fun with our
"forever" friends

We love you Tom & Carol!!!!!

By the light of the silvery moon

The other night we had

the most beautiful full moon

While it was just getting dusk

I thought I'd drive over and take a stroll

through the Victoria Gardens

The lighting was magical

There was no one there but me, my daughter,

and grand kids

it was very peaceful....

 but slightly eerie



but still very enchanting

but then we discovered

there was indeed someone else there!!!

I believe her name was

Charlotte

and some of her friends were there too!!!

Not that they weren't interesting garden friends......

BUT

We decided it was time to leave

Crafty Weekend

My daughter, grands, and niece

came for a visit......

We had a fun weekend

crafting and

treasure hunting

at local flea markets

We decorated jars.....my granddaughter made

the one on the left for her new teacher

I showed my daughter and niece how
to make a blackboard

I found this old frame at the flea market

for $1.00, painted it white, distressed it

& added some paper flowers

(I use the glass that came in the

frame to paint my blackboard)

My niece is getting married in October

and wanted a chalkboard for part

of her wedding decor

and now she has one!!!!

I used a smalled frame (one I had already painted white

and had stashed in my closet for a future project)

 to make another chalkboard

My daughter will use this one

in her classroom

 My niece taught us how to make roses out

of book pages

She is using these paper roses,

book page wreaths and

mason jars to decorate

the tables for her reception

She has some awesome ideas for decorations

at her wedding and has had her entire family

and fiancee helping her with the crafts

so we jumped right in and did our part!!!

We even had my grandson crafting!!!!

You can't have this much fun without making a mess!!!!!

By Sunday morning everyone

was gone.......but they had left me

in the crafting mood, so...........

I decided to decorate some of

my bottles and jars

My Summer Porch

It's August and we are still using our

screened porch!!!!!

OK, it's usually in the mornings

while we enjoy

our quiet time and

a cup of coffee

But seriously that is still

an incredibly amazing thing!!!

I mean we do live in Texas ya know

It is Indeed!!!!!



This morning my Granddaughter and Pixie are enjoying the porch



This put a new spin on
"The dog days of summer"

Our many trees help to keep things cool

I love my porch pillows!!!
I'm always on the hunt for a new cute one

Reading through "Coastal Living"

will definitely make you feel cooler

and yes, we live close enough to the coast

to get that occasional

cool coastal breeze
