Guest Room changes
As my hubby says-
I'm always playing around with
my guest room
This past week I made a few changes....
I changed out the bedside tables
with two I recently painted
This cute stand was in three pieces when I rescued it!! |
A little wood glue and paint
fixed it right up
One of my neighbors gave me this piece
it wasn't in bad shape but you know me
I thought it would look better WHITE!!
Since it was originally a dark stain it distressed nicely |
The old Singer sewing stand
found a new home in this corner
of the room
Every Little Birdie says-
Hope my guest enjoy the changes

Makeover
I found an old
brass floor lamp
at Salvation Army
I brought it home and.....
"PAINTED IT WHITE"
I loved it's style
but it needed some work
I added a little burlap trim
Used one of my shabby lamp shades
Love to strip old stained lamp shades
and re-purpose them into something pretty
A little lace, tulle, a few crystals
an old finial painted white
I love the way it turned out!!!!
Nice addition to my screened porch!!
Every Little Birdie says
What fun turning some one's old
discarded junk into
a beautiful piece for my home

Good Junk
Do you have "girl friend" dates???
Me and one of my best girl friends have
regular dates (we try for once a week)
This week I went to her home
to look at some furniture
and give her advice on
which pieces we should paint
We decided to start with.....
Her breakfast table and chairs
I promise to post on the finished project!!
..........Then we headed down the road
to Cuero, Texas for a little shopping
We both love to go junkin'
and Cureo is just the place to do it
In one of the shops I found an old
metal percolator coffee pot and
an aluminum cake cover
$2.00 - coffee pot
$3.00 cake cover
The sales lady said "what are you going
to do with these old things?"
I really didn't know what I'd do with
them, but I knew they were
Good Junk!
I went home, got out my crafting supplies
and look what happened!
Aluminum cake cover |
I took the old wooden knob off the top and replaced it with a cute "Paris" knob, then I embellished it with some lace, pearls
and bling, and last I sat it on this cake stand
(which I made from thrift finds)
Old coffee Pot |
I made a decorative flower out of some of my ticking material, added a tiny doily for the base and hot glued it to the pot
It works great on my kitchen shelf
to hold up my cookbooks

Painting Class
A couple of weeks back
I had my very first
Painting 101 Class
A couple of my friends wanted to learn
about painting with chalk paint
The class covered:
- Using the right supplies for the job
- How to make your own chalk paint
- Mixing paints to get the right color
- Painting 101
- Distressing your piece
- Waxing your piece
- Using stencils
The right supplies make all the difference! |
We looked at examples of Annie Sloan chalk paint
vs. my homemade chalk paint
Very little difference!!!!
Don't get me wrong, I love Annie Sloan Paint
but I can't always afford the convenience
so I make my own
They each brought a piece to practice painting
This little rocking chair belonged to
JonAnn's father when he was a boy
Very sentimental but in need of a makeover
She mixed different paints to create this pretty blue
How adorable is this???? |
And my friend Judy brought an old chair she
found in her husband's shop
She choose a light green paint
and added this pretty stencil
This piece went from being a boring industrial chair
to a chair with personality!!
We had a great time and they were pleased
with what they learned
.....and I've already got girls wanting to
know when my next class will be!
Every Little Birdie says
We ended with a little "happy hour"
to reward all our hard work!!
It was a fun day with great friends!!
