What is staging a room?
It's stepping back
taking a good look
and then deciding.........
What will make this room pleasing
to another's eye
a Douglas Elliman Florida property |
This Florida home has great drive up
appeal but needs a little interior staging to
continue that "Old Florida" style

My eye says:
There are three great pieces in this dining room:

The green hutch
The large clock

I'd paint them white and give them a

Moving the eye up......
Nothing says "Old Florida" like ceiling fans. So let's replace the dropped light fixture over the table with a fan. It adds charm and functionality.
(Cost: about $200.00 at Home Depot)
AND
While we are at Home Depot
why not pick up a pretty
Sisal rug in a neutral color
to replace the existing one
It will anchor the table while
giving the room a more open look
Now on to that great hutch
For maximum "Old Florida" style
let's fill it with assorted white dishes
and a few interesting sea shells
(White dishes are easy to find
at flea markets, estate sales,
or charity stores)
Different shades of white are
also fun to display

Moving to the other wall
I would leave the clock where it is.
It's perfect!
On the other side of the wall, to the
right of the door way
(remember we've sold the mirror
and small table)
let's add a little rustic "Old Florida" charm

This shelf would be easy to make
and the stoneware pitchers
would continue to carry out
the "White dish" theme
and now for the finishing touch
add a unique center piece
to the dining table

Have you achieved the look and feel
you were going for?

THAT'S THE ART OF STAGING!
