Time to get your jingle on

I don't know about you
but I'm ready to start celebrating
the holidays.......

I started baking today,

I put the tree up this week
(yes, before Thanksgiving)

I'm ready to get my jingle on!!

My house is feeling festive

even the screened porch
is a little merrier this time of year

I love to spread the joy around....

 the bedrooms and bath also
get a little touch of Christmas

I hope you have a very
blessed Thanksgiving
followed by the joyous
spirit of celebrating
Christ's birth

Let the Holidays begin!!

Every Little Birdie says
I can't wait to see how you

Fun Week

This past week I headed north
to visit my family in the
Dallas/Ft.Worth area

I visited my daughter's
Pre-K class
Such a joy to watch her teach

 She calls her students
her "sweet peas"

She loves them and they love her!!

Also while visiting
I found some time to shop!!!!

I stopped in at my favorite
antique shop located in
my old stomping ground

take a look around......

I love this place and always
find something delightful
that needs to go home with me!

Another thing that I found
delightful was the fall trees
in the Metroplex area

  beautiful fall colors
every where I drove
 Lots of quality time spent
with family

The opportunity to do a little
shopping in the big city

Every Little Birdie says
Priceless!

Icky Sticky Bubble Gum

October was a great month
for my Vintage Nest Booth

I even sold a few pieces of my furniture
One of the pieces I sold was my twin bed
Needing to re-stock I stopped by
Salvation Army
to see what they had

 Found this twin iron bed
for $50.00
It was missing the decorative knobs
on the post
and some dear child had thought it was
a good place to stick their gum
Lots, and lots of gum all over the posts

NOT TO WORRY
a little goo gone
a little elbow grease
gum be gone!!

Next a trip to Hobby Lobby for
some new knobs for the bed posts

...and now it looks good as new!!

 How darling is this????

Also here is a sneak peak
at some of the furniture
I bought at the barn
last week

It's been mistreated
and in need of a lot of love (and work)
but I'm up for a  challenge!!!

I think it's got great bones
and will look beautiful
in Annie Sloan "Duck Blue"
Every Little Birdie says
 One man's trash
+ a little love and work
= a real treasure!!!

Bedroom Reveal

In my last post I showed you
the bedroom set my friend
hired me to paint

I also told you I'd share pictures
after she had decorated
this cute bedroom

Well here it is.....

and today I helped her cover her chairs
in the matching fabric

She still needs to hang her pretty
white curtains

They will hang from the top of the ceiling
to the floor
replacing the blinds

She bought the cute painting on a trip to Rome
I think her granddaughters are

going to love sleeping in this room

Don't you!

Every Little Birdie says-
I love working on a project
and then seeing it all come together

The Unexpected

As some of you know I have a little side
job on a ranch

No not roping or herding cattle
but working in the office
on an as needed basis

I was asked to work this week
and that's where the unexpected happened

Monday I showed up to work the office
and the rancher's wife mentioned that I should
come over to the house and look at
some furniture she was going to have painted

It was a beautiful antique bed, dresser, chest,
a couple of chairs and a dressing bench

She wanted it  painted with
Annie Sloan Old White

Well long story short
as it ended up guess who did the painting......

ME!!

Take a look at the finished product

It was a fun job!

She is putting together a very cute
room for her little granddaughters.

I'll show you the room when she
is finished decorating

Another unexpected thing......

she took me to the ranch barn
where there is some old furniture stored

I came home with an old singer sewing
machine base, a dresser, and a vanity

Every Little Birdie says-
  Don't you love it when
unexpected blessing happens!!

Shabby Christmas Crafts

I've been working on new inventory
for my booth

Here are some of my shabby creations

A shabby Christmas tree in a galvanized bucket

Most of my ornaments are
made from book pages

Plus a few vintage ornaments I found at the
Rustic Barn Sale in Gonzales

My vintage ironing board
in my booth is the perfect
place to display my trees

 I saw these cute trees
at the Gonzales Barn Sale
and they inspired me to make my own

and guess what I scored for $5.00
while shopping in Gonzales
last weekend....

 a bird cage!

Perfect for a Christmas tree display

Yes, it's beginning to look a lot like
Christmas
at the Vintage Nest Booth

Every Little Birdie says
Do you like a little shabby in your
Christmas decor??
